My name is Alicia C. Easter, daughter of Cynthia Geneva and granddaughter of Eleanor Cecilia. I am a Black- woman Los Angeles-based yoga and meditation instructor, brand ambassador, and master Reiki practitioner on a mission to empower others by helping them work through emotions physically. It is a journey that began when I discovered the emotionally healing powers of yoga while grieving the loss of my mother, who died of pancreatic cancer when I was 19.
Being raised by a single mom who worked tirelessly to provide for us, I know how important it is for all moms, especially those running households alone, to receive love and care in return.
My loss made me a reluctant member of the “MotherFULL Daughters Club,” but after her death, everywhere I moved, I found a yoga studio, a new center of community… and each time I stepped onto my mat, I felt myself excavating my own deep emotions, finding strength, resilience, grace and LOVE that I didn’t know was there.
In 2016, sharing this path to peace and healing led me to create ACE YOGA LA, a brand aimed to bring more diversity to yoga practice and leadership, celebrating all bodies and abilities. This is a unique challenge for women of color because of economic, social and geographical limitations. I have overcome these limitations and will invite others into self-healing by hosting monthly “I AM” workshops focused on guiding women to find their own reasons for elevating the self through mindfulness and shedding layers of grief.
The program centers on “Embodying the Energy of Joy,” a theme I have elevated and refined while guiding women into their own bodies and emotions, to teach them to see it, feel it, lift it, clean it and free it will include:
Weekly Live Chats and on-demand Meditation, Yoga, Dynamic Stretching, and Breathwork classes to build strong sisterhood, community, emotional support, and answer questions. MotherFULL Daughters will know and feel that they are NOT alone, no matter where they are, since online connection can unite across continents.
Once a month I will host live facilitators from different modalities: Life & Career Coaching; Yoga Nidra; Dance and Fitness; Cooking; Sound Healing; “Talk to a Therapist,” addressing grief and depression. This range of offerings will help liberate those who have recently experienced mother loss or who have lived a great deal of their lives without their mothers.
I am creating a community of mentorship, sisterhood, and gathering around the proverbial “kitchen table” just like I do with my podcast, ‘What Are You Bringing?’ to discuss, in full-transparency: grief, joy, and all the in-between during this time of revolutionary healing.
This is critical NOW because we are in a moment of collective reckoning; we have a choice about what seeds we plant and what plants we water towards glorious BLOOM. I choose to water freedom, healing, connected community and a path to divine feminine unity that lifts us ALL.
Will you join us? I need your support in making this forum a reality and I ask you to donate to our fund today. Our time is NOW.
If you are interested in collaborating on services needed, such as PR and Marketing, please let me know. If you know a MotherFULL daughter who could benefit, please reach out to me so we can connect as the community builds.
I do all of this in honor of my mother, Cynthia, who was a pillar in her community. My greatest hope is that I am able to serve as many women, especially women of color, as possible in her honor.
With love,
Alicia C. Easter daughter of Cynthia
